Renaissance And Brandefense Announce Strategic Partnership
Published:

Renaissance is Ireland’s leading value-added distributor. It has announced a strategic partnership with Brandefense. Brandefense is a global leader in digital risk protection and external threat intelligence. This teamwork will bring Brandefense’s advanced threat intelligence solutions to the Irish market. It gives organizations the tools to detect, assess, and reduce cyber risks before they grow.
Brandefense delivers a full suite of digital risk protection services. These include Dark Web Monitoring, Brand Protection, Phishing Detection and Takedown, Attack Surface Management, and Threat Intelligence. The platform is designed to give real-time insights into emerging threats. It helps businesses stay ahead of cybercriminals by uncovering risks that often go unnoticed. These risks may come from the deep and dark web, leaked credentials, or fraudulent brand impersonation.
Brandefense’s Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) and External Attack Surface Management (EASM) modules also play a critical role in securing modern enterprises. The TPRM module lets organizations assess and monitor the cyber risks posed by vendors, suppliers, and other external partners. It makes sure that thirdparty relationships do not become the weak link in their security posture.
Meanwhile, the EASM module gives constant visibility into an organization’s external digital footprint. It finds exposed assets, misconfigurations, and possible entry points before cybercriminals can use them. Together, these modules help an organization see and reduce security threats beyond its usual perimeter.
This partnership uses Renaissance’s deep expertise and large partner network. It will enable Irish MSPs, MSSPs, and enterprises to strengthen their cybersecurity defenses. This does not need large in-house resources. Cyber threats continue to evolve. The ability to identify and neutralize risks before they cause harm is becoming essential for organizations of all sizes.
Michael Conway, Director of Renaissance, commented on the partnership: “Cyber threats extend far beyond traditional IT environments. Organizations must now protect their brands, their customers, and their reputations. Brandefense’s intelligence-driven approach brings crucial visibility into external risks, ensuring that Irish businesses can proactively defend themselves against emerging threats.
Through this partnership, we are bringing world-class digital risk protection solutions to the Irish market at a time when they are needed most.”
Hakan Uzun, CEO of Brandefense, added: “Today’s cybercriminals operate in the shadows of the internet, exploiting blind spots that most businesses are unaware of until it’s too late. Our mission is to shine a light on these threats and provide organizations with the intelligence they need to take action before an attack occurs.
By partnering with Renaissance, we are confident in our ability to empower Irish businesses with the insights and tools required to strengthen their cybersecurity posture.”
The Renaissance and Brandefense partnership is a major step toward stronger cybersecurity resilience across Ireland. This alliance underscores the increasing need for proactive threat intelligence. It enables businesses to stay secure in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

Brandefense CEO Reveals ‘Key Advantage’ As It Enters UK Channel.
Published:
Scale-up cybersecurity vendor targets UK channel growth
Scale-up cyber security vendor Brandefense possesses a “key advantage” over its competition. Its CEO asserted this as he unveiled plans to build a UK channel.
Brandefense offers brand protection, exposure management, cyber threat intelligence and supply chain security solutions on one unified SaaS platform. It aims to bring enterprise-grade cyber security to the midmarket.
“There are 4,000 cybersecurity vendors in the world,” he told IT Channel Oxygen.
“We know that budgets are not unlimited today, so here we have a unique advantage.
“Our headquarters are in the US, but we are really proud to be born in Turkey. Because in Turkey, there is a cost advantage of developing those solutions, and also a high [level] of skills.
“This allows us to deliver enterprise-grade solutions with midmarket prices.
“That doesn’t mean this is at the expense of the partner community. We have built exceptional margins for our partners.”
Former McAfee, Infoblox and Forcepoint executive Uzun joined Brandefense as CEO in 2023, alongside co-founders Hakan Eryavuz and Mehmet Caner Koroglu.
The Delaware-based vendor’s international expansion drive comes after it scored $2.75m in a Pre-Series A funding round in December. This came despite overall VC funding levels falling to a five-year low last year.

Brandefense did the “groundwork” first by amassing hundreds of customers, Uzun said.
“We’d shown great success and profitability, which is not easy. [The funders] saw great potential for us to be a very big player internationally,” he explained.
Brandefense sees the UK as its “number one” focus in Europe, Uzun stressed.
The vendor is aiming to recruit a distributor and a maximum of four to six MSSPs and cybersecurity consultancy partners in 2024, Uzun said.
“We know the UK market is very open to adopting new and emerging vendors, but [only] those that show commitment to the channel ecosystem,” he said.

2022 Q4
What Are The Most Common Cyber-Attack Methods?
Published:
Due to the recent cyber-attacks, individuals and corporate structures face many security threats. People and institutions affected by the attacks suffered great losses. So, what are the main cyber attack methods that stand out in the field? Brandefense Co-Founder Hakan Eryavuz shared his views on the subject.
The activities carried out in the cyber field are increasing day by day. Many individuals and institutions suffer from cyber attacks. Victims affected by the attacks of threat actors may experience losses. Such losses include loss of reputation, not only financially but also morally. All these developments significantly threaten user security in cyberspace.
Threat actors prefer many methods in the attacks that have increased recently. Brandefense Co-Founder Hakan Eryavuz evaluated the methods used in cyber attacks.
Phishing
Phishing stands out as a deception method using social engineering apps. In such methods, threat actors usually aim to imitate any brand’s website. They capture sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit cards. Some users do not notice that the page and address imitate the original website. When they enter their user information, they get a login error.
By then, the information is already in the hands of threat actors. Such user accounts are usually put up for sale on the dark web. They find buyers very quickly. Nowadays, we often see stories on Instagram accounts of people making a lot of money themselves.
This situation actually stands out as a good scenario in the stolen information does not stay there. People click on links in such stories of accounts they trust. They unwittingly download malicious software to their computers or phones. One example that Brandefense has observed is content that imitates popular apps.
These include paid music apps, video recording and editing apps, web streaming apps, and text and visual effects.
People sometimes register to platforms such as e-commerce, entertainment, music, and games with company accounts. They may also log in with company e-mails. The information obtained this way can harm the company itself. A good example of this is phishing attacks with e-mail content.
Accounts compromised by the methods mentioned above can be used by threat actors. They make themselves look like company employees. Content with e-mail file attachments through malicious software is encouraged for other company employees to download. The software differs according to its purpose. Thus, these malicious files can enter the organization. They can capture sensitive data or manipulate the operating systems.
Malware differs according to its purpose. It can turn computers into bot machines. Various scenarios are encountered. They arise due to software operating to access critical systems and infect different devices within the network. In another example of e-mail phishing, threat actors pose as people in critical positions such as management, finance, or accounting.
They persuade the target to transfer money to them. To prevent such situations, Brandefense constantly scans channels such as the dark web, deep web, and surface web. It also warns brands about account information. Thus, brands and institutions can warn the relevant people early. This saves them from the harmful effects of phishing activities.
Exploiting security vulnerabilities
Besides phishing, threat actors often use security vulnerabilities to gain access to systems. We use the internet in our daily lives. For this, we have to work with software such as browsers, operating systems, and text editors. From time to time, security vulnerabilities occur in the software we use. Threat actors focus on finding ways to infiltrate systems through these vulnerabilities.
Thus, threat actors use services such as SSH and RDP in their own interests. These are the most popular examples. SSH, short for Secure Shell protocol, is known as a network protocol that provides a secure connection with a remote computer. RDP stands for remote desktop connection.
If the vulnerabilities in these technologies used for access and management are not noticed in a timely manner, companies or individuals may not have enough time to intervene. To prevent such threats, it is very key to prefer software with the most up-to-date versions. The software and security services should also be licensed.
Software vulnerabilities are one of the most key issues for Brandefense. Therefore, professional teams report these situations to the users in a timely manner. Scans for exposed vulnerabilities are performed daily to ensure that necessary updates are made.
Thus, institutions and brands can be aware of these vulnerabilities. They can take the necessary measures before it is too late.
Information already disclosed
Users’ information was leaked in the past. It is known to be sold on the dark web or stored for free. Threat actors buy information on the dark web with the motivation to make money. They exploit these accounts to gain unauthorized access to the mentioned systems and distribute malware.
Valuable data such as identity and credit card information can be compromised in two ways. One is unauthorized access to user accounts. The other is access to your company’s database. If these data are to such an extent that the operations of the companies are stopped, the companies suffer material and moral losses.
Today, actors gaining unauthorized access to critical systems encrypt files, rendering them unusable. They demand large ransoms to decrypt them. If the ransom is not paid, the data is shared publicly. Then rival institutions are likely to learn about data that is sensitive to the company.
For this reason, it is very key to check the security of corporate mail accounts at regular intervals. This avoids damage from data leaked in the past.
In addition, some data cannot be accessed directly through accounts. It can be obtained from publicly available sources such as social media channels. Actors who capture your digital fingerprint in public environments with OSINT (open source intelligence) techniques can use the data collected in this way for malicious purposes.
Brute force
Brute force stands out as a trial-and-error method. It is used to obtain login information, passwords, or credit card information of apps in order to gain unauthorized access. Threat actors using this method try random characters. They try to log into target accounts this way. At this point, there are very simple measures that companies and individuals can take.
In the first place, users need to be sensitive so that they do not use similar passwords for different accounts. Besides using different and complex passwords for each account, multi-factor authentication also increases security.
Insider Threats
In some cases, employees can grant threat actors access. Personnel can steal key information about the company. They can give the information at hand to the said actors. There may be some who wonder why such events happened. Some people want to benefit indirectly from the attack. Others try to take revenge on the company. They can resort to this method.
Companies need to review the authorization rules within the company to avoid such incidents.
What Will The IT Professions Of The Future Be?

All these developments lead especially young people who make career plans to research the informatics jobs of the future. Speaking at World Engineers Day, Brandefense Co-Founder Hakan Eryavuz shared his views on informatics jobs. These may come to the fore in the future.
Data security engineering
We observe that the place of digital technologies in social life is increasing daily. People benefit from many new technologies. They also store their data in the digital space. At this point, the issue of data security comes to the fore. Especially after the Cambridge Analytica scandal in the past, academic studies in the field have also been followed with interest.
I think that data security engineering will become increasingly key in the future. It will relieve users’ concerns about this issue. We can state that all societies will need qualified data security engineers. They can stand against malicious people and apps.
As Brandefense, we will continue to work to contribute to the security of the digital world. We do this with the confident steps we have taken in the sector.
CTI analyst
CTI analysts are professionals who find intelligence in dangerous areas such as the dark web. They use their analytical and technological skills together with their expertise in cyberspace. In the future, professional group members specializing in cyber threat intelligence may take on more large roles in both the public and private sectors.
The importance given to the field of cyber security is increasing day by day. The international public talks about the upcoming cyber pandemic. Highly qualified CTI analysts matter a great deal in the ecosystem. They protect the reputation of public institutions and private sector brands. They also provide analysis for data security.
The adaptation to the digital world is increasing. In parallel, we can think that the threats in cyberspace will also expand. For all these reasons, CTI analysis will be among the most key jobs of the future.
SOC analyst
Unlike CTI analysts, SOC analysts are professionals who check how well the security situation of companies is. They do this with their surveillance activities. Analysts are developing many measures against attacks. They do this in line with the surveillance activities in question. In addition, it takes part in the head of security solutions. It ensures that the intelligence is constantly checked.
Employees of the sector may encounter many problems from time to time. This is due to the intensity of intelligence during the process. For example, intelligence will be evaluated as a priority and requires a professional approach. To solve these problems, intelligence products provided by expert teams are needed.
Identifying and evaluating threats in the first place plays a major role in the security of companies. Simultaneously reducing possible losses plays a major role too. On the other hand, expert teams cooperate with other team members. They confirm the security of the procedures followed by the institutions. When deemed necessary, steps are taken to renew or update business processes.
The need for proactive solutions in the cyber field will gradually grow. So qualified analysts will be an essential part of the future world.
Data analyst
In today’s world, we can say that it is getting easier to access data. Easier access to data can be considered a positive development. However, the size of the data is increasing day by day. So we need detailed analysis processes at the point of transforming the data into information.
For these reasons, I think that data analysts will assume key roles in social life in the future. The need for data analysts will increase daily. They obtain a meaningful whole from the data flow in the ecosystem.
Cloud engineer
Many institutions receive support from cloud service providers. This helps them store their digital data. Cloud engineers follow the data flow processes. They choose suitable storage tools in line with user demands. By examining the data, the engineers determine the possible needs. They also prepare many reports by analyzing them accordingly.
Business processes are made more efficient in light of the reports obtained in this context. I expect cloud engineers to become more popular in the future.
